Local church pastors in the Iowa Conference are encouraged to join a Covenant Community for Pastoral Excellence (CCPE). These facilitated groups gather monthly for Biblical reflection, check-in, prayer, and peer learning around an issue arising in the ministry of one of the participants. Group members enter into an explicit covenant addressing participation, confidentiality, collegial function, and more. A modest fee is assessed for participation. The groups are open to participants from ecumenical partners.

St. John's School of Theology Seminary: Conversatio: Lifelong Learning

Pastoral leaders benefit immensely when they engage in deep, sustained conversation with their peers. Conversatio offers renewal retreats for Catholic priests, lay ecclesial ministers, and deacons. Regular gatherings of pastoral leaders are also initiated. These gatherings facilitate deeper conversation and interpretation of parish life among both clergy and laity. Such collegial conversation stimulates personal and professional development as well as ministerial and parish renewal.

Nebraska Conference, United Church of Christ: Transforming Covenants
http://www.uccnebraska.org/

Covenantal Learning Groups (CLGs) are the soil out of which our pastoral excellence grows and are the primary place of inspiration, accountability, and learning for participants. We continue to learn how we can encourage, challenge, and inspire each other to find more within our shared life that allows the gifts we bear to build community and imagination. We work cooperatively with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Nebraska and their Transforming Covenants project. Some United Church of Christ (UCC) participants work within Covenantal Learning Groups funded through the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Nebraska, and the reverse. The UCC funds ten CLGs, and the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Nebraska funds four.
