Transition into Ministry

The Transition into Ministry (TiM) programs seeks to assist new pastors in making the critical transition from seminary student to pastoral leader. Some programs are Pastoral Residencies in which new pastors spend their first years serving as full-time residents in an intentional teaching congregation serving beside more seasoned pastoral mentors. Other programs focus on forming Peer Learning Groups for new clergy. In recent years, some TiM programs have been combining elements of both practices, connecting larger churches with residency programs to other congregations nearby that also have residency programs or with smaller churches served by a pastor in his or her first call. Some Tim programs are sponsored primarily by congregations, while others are connected to one another through regional or national denominational judicatories or theological schools.

We provide these directories of programs to help program directors and participants find each other, as well as to help those interested in developing and implementing new programs on a TiM model learn more about current programs.
